So... I will not be a beer drinker. Not that I ever was one, but now I’m sure not going to start. Alicia came in last night and... well... she didn’t have such a pleasant night. And neither did our carpet. But we did get to sleep in this morning, so the rest of us had a pretty good night. =/
I like it when hotels include breakfast. It doesn’t happen a lot for us because we always choose the cheap places, but here, there is bread and piña and coffee and jugo de naranja and... oh desayuno. The morning is lazy and slow, but it does not take long until we are impatient to hit the beach. I am not a beach native; there have only been a few in my recent past, and I am excited to jump into the salty sea. And Beth? Well, this is her first beach. ¡Qué emocionante para ella!
The water is warm enough, the sand fine enough, and the sun hot enough for my tastes. This is a lazy day, and I spend the majority of it laying out and reading Harry Potter 6. But sometimes... well, what can be more fun than body surfing some choice swells with your good friends? Nothing I must think.
We break our beach party around noon for some good ole fashioned tourist food. I get some quesadillas – yum-my. :)
Then it’s back to the beach. It is soon apparent that la fuerza
We trek back up to the hotel for showers and to change and then catch a cab up the hill to El Avion – our choice of restaurants for dinner. The guidebooks rave about this transformed old aircraft and the food joint built around it. And I admit, the sight is impressive, and so is the cost of the cab. It costs us 4000 colones just to get up the hill. Wth? That’s crap. But ah well. The walk would’ve been worse I now think.
The food at El Avion is pretty good, though my appetite flees as soon as we sit down. So I order the Mahi-mahi fingers; I’ve never had fish sticks like these before. Our waiter spends the majority of our dinner flirting with Marissa, who shamelessly flirts back. Though I’m glad not to be the one being hit on, the exchange is fun to watch. Dinner passes pleasantly enough, though I do pass on the chance to drink. Alicia’s recent sickness has made me wary of all alcohol. I’ll stick to agua tonight.
The only dent in the night – my stupid camera. My flash is most definitely broken, and it has ruined many a potentially cute picture. I’m pretty peeved. First thing when I get home, I’m marching that camera to the store. It’s in big trouble.
So... I should go out. I should go and party and be my age. But I’m tired... and I want to read HP. I need to finish! And I do. And now... I cannot wait till the seventh. But here is my big fear – someone in the next week is going to ruin it. Someone in CR will be discussing it; alguien en el aeropuerto tendrá una boca grande. Fingers crossed I can make it home without knowing what happens.
And now, I knit. This scarf is coming along I suppose, but maybe I’m just really sleepy. :)

Here's a little diddy I learned in Italy. "Liquor before beer, you're in the clear. Beer before liquor, never been sicker!" It's helpful. I certainly didn't get sick... and I had a lot. Yeah. Huh. Good times.
The ocean was sooooo strong at Monterossa (which was a journal entry I haven't written/posted yet). I got knocked winding repeatedly.
One last thing. 4000 Colones? I read that as "4000 *cahones.*" Which struck me as rather hilarious and painful.
